My Vision for "Hummingbird"

I had such a blast bringing "Hummingbird" to life! This piece is really about celebrating bold self-expression and finding a connection to nature, even in a modern context.

The subject's electric blue hair, styled in those fun space buns, was the first thing I knew had to be super saturated and vibrant. It's meant to be a punch of confidence that catches your eye immediately.

I contrasted that cool blue energy with the rich, warm colors of the extensive floral tattoos on her neck and chest. I love how these beautiful blooms, the reds, purples, and golds, spill across her skin, giving her a delicate yet powerful look.

And, of course, the hummingbird! It's the namesake of the piece, and to me, it symbolizes joy and lightness of spirit. Placing it right there on her shoulder feels like a subtle reminder to always find beauty and agility in life.

What I Focused On:

• Color Play: Getting that perfect contrast between the hot tattoo colors and the cool blue tones.

• Texture: Making sure the hair looked smooth and the skin looked real, catching the light just right.
