FAQs
Artwork/Workflow
Is the artwork drawn by you?
Yes, all the artwork on this site is hand drawn by me, on the iPad Pro using an app called ProCreate.
What do you use to create the artwork?
I use an app called ProCreate on the iPad to draw my illustrations and paintings. I also use some other apps to make some adjustments like Affinity Photo, this is mainly to make the required adjustments to make the image compatible with the colour profile for the paper I use for the prints, but also use it to extract the images for posting online in the various sizes and zoom levels.
One app I’d recommend for artists on the iPad is VizRef, this can be used to display reference images beside your art app, I really find it useful.
Do you use AI in your art?
No! My art is all hand drawn by myself.
I do believe AI can play a role in my workflow though, I have played around with the idea of generating reference images if they prove hard to find. Specifically lighting scenarios, but those references would not be included in the artwork itself.
How are the prints done?
I use a print partner that uses high quality professional equipment and materials.
They have printing facilities in the UK, Germany and the USA, the most convenient facility will be used depending on your delivery address so you get the print in the fastest way possible and cutting the postage costs as much as we can.
The paper used for these prints is the Epsom Semi Gloss paper with a weight of 260gsm, and the printer uses 11 pigment based-inks as opposed to the 4 dye-based inks found in standard inkjet printing giving you a premium quality print.
Artist
Where are you from?
I am originally from Madeira, Portugal but I live in London, UK. I moved here when I was 11 in 1991. I do consider myself both Portuguese and British, although just officially Portuguese.
Are you a full time artist?
No, art is my hobby, or side business as is what I am trying to build.
By day I work in IT for a local authority in London.
Are you academically trained?
No, I am a self taught artist. I have always had a love of art and drawing. In 2019, after many years of not drawing, I made a decision to take it seriously and actually learn to draw. I bought an iPad, ProCreate, art books, online courses and an insane amount of ProCreate brushes (which I do not use!) and never looked back.
Shipping
Where do you ship to?
Prints can be shipped to most countries. The printing partner that I work with has printing facilities in the UK, Germany and the USA, the closest or more convenient facility to the delivery address will be used.
More information about shipping can be found here.
What are the shipping costs?
Shipping costs can be found here.
Why are some of the shipping costs so high?
The shipping costs are set by my printing partner, I have no control over these. Unfortunately they are a bit high to some regions of the world.
Commissions
Are you open to commissions?
Currently I am open to commissions, if you are interested in a commission please complete the contact form and I’ll get back to you soon.
How long do commissions take to complete?
Please allow 6 to 8 weeks. The time to completion will depend on my availability and the complexity of the project. If a faster turn around is required a further charge can be added on at my discretion.
Who holds the rights to the artwork
I as the artist hold all the rights o the artwork.
You will have the right to use the artwork for personal use only, and if commercial use is required, a licence agreement will need to be made to use the artwork for that specific commercial use.
I also reserve the right to display the artwork in my portfolio, website, and social media. Of course, I wouldn’t share anything until you have.
